| Beschrijving in het Engels:In the season 2003 Povlja were declared the most beautiful destination in the category of smaller places according to Radio Station “Split” and Tourist Board of the Dalmatian region Povlja is a little place in Dalmatia, at the north east side of the island of Braè, one of the most beautiful islands, an intact pearl of the Adriatic sea. The place is crowded with interesting monuments, while most of them originate from the 5th century. The most famous are «Povaljski prag» and «Povaljska listina». “Povaljski prag” is one of the oldest and most important epigraphic monuments in Croatian Cyrillic, and “Povaljska listina” is the oldest preserved paper written in Croatian language, in Cyrillic. It is important to mention the remains of basilica from the 5th century. Basilica is in good condition. In Povlja, you can also find octagonal baptismal font, the only one existing in Croatia today.
